Incoming student-elected trustee fighting for equal opportunity for all Cornellians

Jaewon Sim is a computer science major and a law and society minor in the College of Arts & Sciences, and he currently serves the undergraduates as a the Student Assembly’s Vice President of Internal Operations. He is the incoming student-elected trustee for 2019-2021.

He also leads the SA Executive Cabinet of 15 committee chairs and chairs the Investigative Committee on IT Governance, which he established in Spring 2018.

In addition to his role as a SA vice president, Jaewon serves on the Arts and Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council, the Student Health Advisory Committee, CIT Services Steering Committee and the Cornell Canvas Advisory Board.

In his freshman year, Jaewon served as the SA Vice President of External Affairs and chaired the SA Communications Committee.

Before moving to Ithaca, NY, Jaewon spent the past 19 years of his life in four different countries: Indonesia, China, Korea, and the US. Jaewon has been a member of the Student Assembly since the Fall of his freshman year and one of his main priorities as a representative is to provide an equal opportunity to succeed for Cornellians from all backgrounds.

Outside of shared governance, Jaewon is an iOS developer for Cornell AppDev and a member of the International Students Union and Beta Theta Pi.
